As highlighted by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) on its website(iihf.com), the global ice hockey community has mobilised to help the Federation (FHU) and Ukrainian players hard hit by the war.
Thanks to the support of federations, clubs and individuals, hundreds of players and their families have thus been given the opportunity to continue practising their sport in various European countries, and the country's two main national teams (the senior and the U18) will thus be able to regularly participate in their respective World Championships in Poland and Italy at the end of May.
With the coordination and financial and logistical support of the IIHF and the tangible contribution of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation (SIHF), the City of Lugano andHockey Club Lugano, the Ukrainian U18 Men's National Team will arrive at the Cornèr Arena from the Czech Republic tomorrow, Thursday 14 April 2022, where it will begin a ten-day training camp (from 14 to 24 April) in preparation for the World Championships scheduled in Asiago from 25 April to 1 May.
The twenty-five boys who make up the team (born in the years 2004, 2005 and 2006) and the nine staff members accompanying them will have a total of ten training sessions at the Cornèr Arena, where they will also have their meals. The entire delegation will stay in a hotel in Paradiso.
On Tuesday 19 April, the Ukrainian U18 selection will also face the Swiss U17 national team in a friendly match in Biasca starting at 4pm.
TheHockey Club Lugano reminds that the ice training of the Ukrainian U18 national team, generally scheduled in the morning and late afternoon, will be open to the public.
